Background

Shipt is launching digital gift cards that customers can personalize with custom designs and values for marketplace orders. The goal is to drive excitement around gifting Shipt credits and memberships, measured by purchases and new member acquisition.

Process

I started by brainstorming a list of items I associate with each moment and thought about how to add our Shipt spark—just a little extra twinkle. I sketched everything in Procreate, added risograph texture, then brought it into Illustrator to vectorize. I leveraged a new set of holiday illustrations by repurposing them while illustration some additional one. I ensured consistency on the placement of the logo while illustrating aspirational scenes. These designs lived across landing pages, emails, in-app placements, and social media.

Art Direction

These gift cards were meant to capture key cultural moments and celebrations. The goal was to keep them agnostic and relatable so anyone could feel excited and gift our service.

Results

The goal was to issue 500 membership credit gift cards in the first three months, and since the August launch, over 600 gift cards have been purchased with a 73% redemption rate. Of these, 58% of Shipt credit cards were redeemed the same day, and 77% of membership gift cards converted to annual memberships.
